6 Easy Tips To Be Active

When I hear physical activity, the next thing that pops into my mind is stress and what follows are solid excuses as to why I cannot get involved, it’s either I don’t have enough time, I’ve got too much work or sick kids that need to be looked after. There are so many reasons why we don’t pay attention to our health and well-being.
Well, here’s a list of 6 easy tips to be active I now use without fail.

Choose activities that you love

It’s pointless for you to take up jogging or long walks if you hate it because sooner or later, you’ll find yourself giving up on that activity. So, If you wish to become and stay active, you need to practice more of the physical activities you love and will always want to repeat as often as possible! The more the amount of fun you know you’ll have, the more motivated you’ll get to keep moving. Please don’t hesitate to try out several sports until you find the one that’s best for you.

Get a pet (dog)

As we all know, pets need activity. This means that owning a dog, you’ll be left with no choice but to play and walk with them frequently thereby helping you to burn some calories.
Consequently, it goes without saying that getting a dog is a simple and effective tip on how to be active.

Set an alarm

I’m one that loves writing so when I’m preoccupied with what I’m working on I tend to forget how long I’ve been sitting. Sometimes It feels like, each time I blink hours have passed. If you’re one that your job requires a lot of sitting, what you should do is, set an alarm for every hour, so you remember to get up for at least two minutes to stretch or walk around. This helps to keep you active.

Take the stairs instead

I know this sounds a little bit boring and kinda too simple so that many people doubts it’s effectiveness.
All thanks to technology, so many of us have been made little lazy. We’ll rather take the elevator up to our various offices, hotels, apartments etc. Actually, climbing stairs is a very easy tip on how to be active.

Exercise with friends

Having a training partner is an undisputed way to be physically active. Your partner can help by motivating and inspiring you to persevere to meet your objectives. It’s also a nice way to strengthen relationship bonds. Your partner could either be a family member, a friend, neighbour or a colleague that’s interested in joining you in your plan. If they don’t want to, please feel free to make new friends by finding people who are already involved in the activities you wish to try out. You’ll be surprised at how much progress you’ll make.

Always stretch

Always take time to stretch at your desk (or better yet, away from your desk). As suggested by Olympic sports physiotherapist Mark Alexander, standing up every 30 minutes to stretch out your chest and extend your spine to reverse the hunched position of sitting will help in reducing back and neck pain, improve flexibility and range of motion as well as making your feel more active.
This is also a home-friendly workout on how to be active that requires no special equipment. I mean, you don’t necessarily need to leave your house to start getting active.
